Surely much of the joy that is the Castello’s Casali is that each is charming, unique and enticing in its own regard, but also that each seems idyllically at home in its particular setting. Casale MonteRotondo exemplifies this characteristic. Perched along a prominent ridge, a stretched infinity-edged pool leads the eye to the main residence and two guest homes, which gradually descend with the slope of the hillside. The results are beautiful, unobstructed views from every window. Inside, the architecture delights, beginning at the entry with a soaring two-story space ringed by a contemporary stairway that floats mid-air from the home's original stone walls. With floors reclaimed from ancient roof tiles, a forno-warmed courtyard and cozy living and dining rooms, MonteRotondo is surely among Tuscany’s greatest restorations.
